The Cabbage Soup Diet
Cabbage Soup Diet Summary
The Cabbage Soup diet is a crash diet consisting largely of, yes you guessed it, cabbage soup, cabbage soup and more cabbage soup. Although each day in the 7 day plan there are other foods you can eat too. It has been rumoured to achieve weight loss of up to 10 pounds in a week, although some of that may just be water loss.
Cabbage soup is low calorie and fills you up. However, this is essentially a starvation diet, lacking lots of key nutrients, and not to be attempted for any period of time. If that's not bad enough, it can also cause flatulence.
History of the Cabbage Soup Diet Program
The origins of the Cabbage Soup diet are unknown, other than it being a fad diet based on a low calorie food. It was popularised in the 1990s, notably in Cabbage Soup Diet
books by Margaret Danbrot.
